Community Action at Menachiyapuram for a Carbon-Neutral Rajapalayam

Category: Solid Waste Management

As part of the Carbon Neutral Rajapalayam initiative, a community awareness drive was recently conducted at Meenachiyapuram Village, under Samusigapuram Panchayat, by Ramco Community Services, to promote sustainable waste management practices at the village level.

Around 40 residents from the village participated in the interactive awareness session. The discussion focused on practical steps such as twin-bin waste segregation, improving village sanitation, preventing Garbage Vulnerable Points, and the importance of segregating waste at the source. Participants also discussed the difficulties involved in processing mixed waste and why proper segregation at the household level is essential.

The session helped strengthen community awareness about sustainable waste management and emphasised the role of collective responsibility in maintaining clean and healthy villages.

Initiatives like these demonstrate that meaningful environmental change often begins at the grassroots. When communities understand the impact of their everyday actions, simple practices such as separating waste and preventing dumping can significantly contribute to a cleaner environment.
