Marking World Earth Day, observed globally on April 22, Shrishti Environment and Livelihood Foundation conducted an environmental awareness programme at Kumaran Street in Ward 16 of Rajapalayam Municipality with active participation from local youth.
The programme focused on promoting sustainable living practices and community responsibility towards environmental protection. Participants were given orientation on Solid Waste Management, including the importance of waste segregation at source and the benefits of proper waste processing.
Organisers also highlighted the need for maintaining street cleanliness and collective civic responsibility in keeping neighbourhoods clean and hygienic. Awareness sessions were held on the growing challenges of global warming and rising earth temperatures, stressing the importance of individual and community-level action.
The significance of tree plantation in improving air quality, reducing heat, and creating greener urban spaces was also explained during the event.
As part of the initiative, tree saplings were distributed to all participants to encourage environmental stewardship and motivate residents to contribute towards a greener future.
