An awareness meeting on waste segregation and prevention of waste dumping was organised at the Vettaiperumal Kovil backside habitation in South Venganallur Village Panchayat on May 20, 2026.

During the programme, participants were educated on the importance of segregating waste at source and adopting responsible waste disposal practices. The resource person explained methods for separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and promoted the use of the twin-bin system for effective household waste management.

The session also highlighted the need to reduce plastic usage in daily life and discussed different waste processing methods aimed at minimising environmental pollution and preventing indiscriminate dumping of waste in public spaces.

In addition, residents were encouraged to participate in tree plantation activities to improve environmental sustainability and create cleaner, greener neighbourhoods.
