About Us

Rajapalayam is on an ambitious journey to become a carbon-neutral city by 2041, aligning with global efforts to combat climate change and protect our planet for future generations. Achieving carbon neutrality involves a sustained and coordinated push to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while enhancing eco-friendly practices like renewable energy, biodiversity conservation, sustainable mobility, waste reduction, and community participation.

CarbonNeutralRajapalayam.org (CNR.org) is a community-driven platform supported by Ramco Community Services, an NGO under the Ramco Group, appointed by the State Government as the Project Management Unit of the Carbon Neutrality Mission in Rajapalayam.

Our Mission

To spread awareness about the impactful initiatives shaping Rajapalayam’s carbon-neutral journey, foster positivity and enthusiasm, and spark a city-wide movement where every individual feels encouraged to participate

Our Vision

To celebrate and nurture the community spirit of Rajapalayam in building a sustainable, liveable, and future-ready city, together.

Carbon Neutral Rajapalayam

Carbon Neutrality means balancing the amount of carbon dioxide (CO₂) we release into the air with the amount we remove. It’s like keeping a seesaw level. If a factory or a person produces CO₂ by using cars, electricity, or machines, they can “cancel out” that pollution by planting trees, using clean energy (like solar or wind), or supporting projects that reduce carbon. The goal is to make sure we don’t add extra CO₂ to the planet, helping fight climate change.

Ramco PMU

Ramco PMU functions as Rajapalayam Municipality’s project management hub, coordinating development with climate priorities, ensuring seamless alignment of urban growth, Panchayat needs, and Tamil Nadu’s long-term sustainability vision.

Eco Park

The 44-acre Eco Park at Sanjeevi Malai’s foothills will host 2,500 native trees across 43 species, enhancing biodiversity, creating green lungs, and offering a vibrant community recreation and education space.

Greening Sanjeevi Hills

With Rs.5 crore state support, thousands of trees from nearly 200 native species will be planted, reviving Sanjeevi Hills’ ecological heritage and strengthening resilience against climate change and habitat loss.

Solar Power

Rajapalayam’s solar transition, backed by expert partners, uses GIS and field surveys to map rooftop potential. A strategic plan will expand clean energy adoption, reducing emissions and ensuring energy security.

Water Body Restoration

Traditional kanmais are to be restored to secure water resources, rejuvenate ecosystems, preserve heritage, and improve community resilience to drought and climate risks. The city has 42 such water bodies.

Under Ground Sewage System

Rajapalayam’s Underground Sewage System (UGSS) enhances sanitation by collecting and treating waste systematically, ensuring clean streets, curbing manual scavenging, protecting ecosystems, and improving urban quality of life for all residents.
