Rajapalayam, August 14, 2025:
Celebrating 79th Independence Day with purpose, Ramco PMU for Carbon Neutral Rajapalayam facilitated a series of interlinked community programmes that fused the spirit of freedom with environmental consciousness.
In Rajapalayam Division 4, the day began with an engaging awareness session on the Carbon Neutral initiative, energising both municipal officials and frontline sanitation teams. A spirited rally followed, uniting 26 workers, six animators, and staff from Shrishti and Ramco PMU. Recognition was a highlight: three workers were honoured with appreciation gifts, celebrating their commitment to waste management and climate resilience. The atmosphere was further lightened by well-deserved game prizes awarded to workers (both men and women) and animators. A standout moment was the presentation of the “Best Supervisor Award” for excellence in solid waste management, honouring individual leadership in the mission.
Simultaneously, at Cholawaram Village Panchayat, the celebration took a youthful turn. Thirty-two Primary School students marched in a vibrant rally and took a collective oath at their school, pledging to adopt sustainable practices. The panchayat motivator, clerk, teachers, and the principal were also present, reinforcing the community’s support for the next generation’s environmental awareness.
Across at Kothankulam Village Panchayat, creativity met activism. Around 80 students, accompanied by school staff and the principal, participated in a colorful fancy-dress parade through village lanes. Twelve children dressed for the occasion bringing playfulness and purpose together.
These programmes were not mere observances. They offered a platform for Ramco PMU and partners to convey tangible ways the public can contribute toward beating plastic pollution and achieving carbon neutrality. Whether through frontline workers’ leadership, student pledges, creative expression, or simple awareness, each moment was a reminder that every citizen’s role matters.
