A major objective of the Carbon Neutral Rajapalayam initiative is to systematically eliminate Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) across Rajapalayam Municipality. As part of this effort, Ramco Community Services conducted a comprehensive city-wide survey in August 2025 in partnership with Shrishti Environmental and Livelihood Foundation (SELF) and the Rajapalayam Municipal Corporation.
The survey was carried out with the support of student volunteers and municipal sanitation teams. It identified and geo-tagged 363 locations of concern, including major GVPs, waste-burning areas, construction and demolition debris dumping spots, open urination points, and open defecation areas.
These findings now provide a valuable baseline for action. They help drive targeted clean-up measures, better waste collection planning, focused Information, Education and Communication campaigns, and regular monitoring. The survey outcomes are guiding Rajapalayam towards improved cleanliness, sustainability, and the long-term goal of becoming a carbon-neutral city.
