Ramco Community Services recently carried out a GVP (Garbage Vulnerable Point) cleaning and rangoli beautification activity at South Vaithiyanathapuram Street in Ward 28, as part of its Model Ward Initiative.
A total of 14 participants, along with support from the AVM, a privately-run solid waste management agency, took part in the drive. The identified GVP, which was previously prone to waste dumping, was cleaned thoroughly. Following the cleanup, rangoli designs were created at the site to discourage further dumping and improve the visual appeal of the area.
Officials stated that regular daily cleaning activities are being ensured in the locality. Continuous monitoring and preventive measures are also being implemented to maintain cleanliness and avoid recurrence of waste accumulation.
The initiative aims to promote sustainable sanitation practices and encourage community participation in maintaining public spaces. The municipality plans to continue similar activities across other areas as part of its efforts to develop clean and model wards.
