Students from four schools in Rajapalayam were felicitated for their creative contribution to environmental awareness at a prize distribution ceremony held at Nadar Higher Secondary School on Thursday (August 27, 2026).
The ceremony marked the conclusion of an inter-school drawing competition organised as part of Paper Bag Day by Shrishti Environment and Livelihood Foundation and Ramco Community Services. Students from the participating schools had earlier submitted awareness-themed drawings highlighting the importance of sustainability, responsible waste management and environmentally friendly practices.
The winners were presented with certificates and prizes in recognition of their creativity and their efforts to convey an important environmental message through art.
Mr. Sakthivel, Sanitary Officer, Rajapalayam Municipality, who attended the programme as the chief guest, spoke to the students about the importance of effective solid waste management and source segregation. He emphasised that young citizens have an important role to play in keeping their surroundings clean and contributing to a greener and healthier Rajapalayam.
The programme was attended by the school Headmaster, animators from Rajapalayam Municipality, and students. The prize distribution ceremony provided a meaningful conclusion to the Paper Bag Day activities, while encouraging students to become active participants in promoting sustainable and responsible waste practices in their communities.
