Volunteers of Ātmaprasāra conducted a Teacher Development Programme on “Understanding Today’s Adolescents and Creating a Healthy Culture among Staff and Students” at Ramco Institute of Technology, bringing together around 55 high school teachers from four institutions.

The session focused on helping teachers better understand adolescent psychology and changing student behavioural patterns in today’s academic environment. Key topics discussed included reduced attention span, digital distractions, fear associated with science subjects, student anxiety, and the importance of shifting from fear-based learning to encouragement-based teaching practices.

The programme highlighted the crucial role teachers play in creating emotionally safe, supportive, and responsive classrooms for students during their formative years.

As part of the interactive training, volunteers Ms. Shymala, Ms. Sudha, and Mr. Rajesh conducted group activities, games, and role plays aimed at strengthening emotional connection, active listening, self-awareness, and teacher-staff relationships.

Participants described the programme as engaging, practical, and thought-provoking. Several teachers shared that the session remained lively and interactive throughout, adding that they were surprised when it concluded because the discussions and activities kept them actively involved.

The initiative forms part of Ātmaprasāra’s outreach efforts to promote emotional wellbeing awareness and healthier educational environments in schools and colleges. For enquiries regarding outreach activities and emotional wellbeing awareness programmes, contact: 9884087478.
