Documentation of heritage buildings in the city, a project undertaken by Ramco Community Services, is currently underway. The second phase of the survey is being carried out with the support of student volunteers from Rajapalayam Rajus’ College.

The survey extends beyond old residential buildings to include historic temples and other places of worship. Many of these shrines are dedicated to local deities and folk gods. In several locations, the deities are represented merely by stone pillars or naturally shaped stones, while in others they are housed in simple structures or small shrines.

Some of these shrines and temples are estimated to be between 100 and 150 years old. The purpose of the survey is not only to document the physical structures but also to record the cultural practices, traditions, rituals and oral histories associated with them. The study seeks to understand how these places of worship have shaped the social and cultural life of the community over generations.

Many of these temples are privately owned and continue to be maintained by descendants of the families that originally established them. The survey aims to preserve this valuable cultural heritage for future generations.
