Mental Health Awareness Programme at PACR Polytechnic

Category: Mental Health

Ātmaprasāra recently conducted a mental health awareness programme for students of PACR Polytechnic, focusing on anger management and behavioural addictions. The programme was attended by 126 students from the Mechanical Engineering Department across two batches.

The sessions were led by Ātmaprasāra volunteers Ms. Shyamala Raja, Ms. Ananthi, and Ms. Manjula. The volunteers shared the journey of Ātmaprasāra, its vision and mission – and the positive impact of its counselling and outreach sessions on people of the city.

The highlight of the program is a role play depicting anger-related challenges in family settings and demonstration of methods that individuals and families can adopt to overcome the challenges. A presentation on behavioural addictions was also conducted, helping students understand the risks associated with excessive dependence on digital platforms and the importance of seeking timely support.

The students responded enthusiastically and actively participated in the discussions. Several students openly shared their experiences with gaming and social media addiction, making the session both engaging and meaningful. The positive feedback received from the participants underscored the need for greater awareness and dialogue on mental health among young people.
