Tamil Nadu Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment, Ms. K. Jegatheeswari, who is also the MLA for Rajapalayam, has reaffirmed the State government’s commitment to transforming Rajapalayam into a model town that combines economic opportunity with environmental sustainability. “The aim is to make Rajapalayam a land of opportunities and sustainable living,” she said.
Addressing a felicitation function organised by the Rajapalayam Chamber of Commerce and Industry on July 3, 2026, the Minister said the government’s vision is to ensure the town’s growth is holistic, inclusive and sustainable, in line with the Master Plan for the Rajapalayam Local Planning Area and the Carbon Neutral Rajapalayam initiative.
The Minister outlined a broad development agenda that encompasses both rural and urban areas. She also emphasised the importance of restoring water bodies, expanding green cover, and promoting clean and renewable energy as integral components of the town’s future development.
Inviting industry, trade bodies and citizens to become active partners in this transformation, Ms. Jegatheeswari called upon the members of the industry and business establishments to contribute ideas and practical plans that would help realise the shared vision for the town.
The function was presided over by Shri P. R. Venketrama Raja, Chairman of the Ramco Group, and Smt. P. V. Nirmala Raja, Chairperson of Ramco Community Services. Office-bearers and members of the Chamber, and prominent citizens from the region took part in the event.
