Category: Solid Waste Management

As part of the World Environment Day celebrations under the Rajapalayam Carbon Neutral initiative, a special Pledge Taking Ceremony was organised for workers of the Micro Composting Centre (MCC) and Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at Mangapuram. The programme was conducted by Shrishti Environment and Livelihood Foundation to reinforce the workers’ commitment to environmental protection and sustainable waste management.

The event brought together MCC and MRF workers who play a vital role in the city’s waste processing and resource recovery efforts. The programme focused on strengthening awareness about cleanliness, waste segregation, recycling, and environmentally responsible practices in daily operations.

During the ceremony, participants collectively pledged to practise proper waste segregation at source, reduce the use of plastics, maintain cleanliness in their workplaces, promote awareness on waste segregation among the public, and contribute actively to environmental conservation through responsible waste management.

An awareness session was also conducted on the importance of source segregation, recycling, and sustainable waste handling methods. The discussion highlighted the critical role played by MCC and MRF workers in reducing waste sent to landfills and supporting the broader objective of achieving carbon neutrality in Rajapalayam.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from all workers, reflecting their dedication to environmental stewardship. The event concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among participants, reaffirming their role as frontline contributors in building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Rajapalayam.
